Son Hasat - The Reeds is making it's world premiere in Toronto Film Festival's Centrepiece Section.9/9/2023
The Reeds, a riveting crime drama directed by Cemil Ağacıkoğlu and produced by Sezzfilm, has been chosen to make its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival in the Centrepiece section.
This year's Toronto Film Festival will take place from September 7th to September 17th. Among the festival's special selections, which attracts over 500,000 film enthusiasts from all around the world, will be the world premiere of "The Reeds” a 2023 production by Sezzfilm, co-produced with Red Carpet from Bulgaria and TRT Sinema; directed by Cemil Ağacıkoğlu. Previously categorized under the title "Contemporary World Cinema," the section showcasing films from around the world will be renamed as "Centrepiece" starting from 2023. Robyn Citizen, the festival's programming and platform leader, stated about the name change, “Centrepiece is a showcase for acclaimed titles from festivals around the globe, highly anticipated premieres from Canadian and international talents, and the latest work of influential filmmaking luminaries,” The Reeds, which has been invited to be featured in the Centrepiece, will seal its spot in this highly regarded part with its world premiere, establishing its presence on the international stage. "The Reeds" is a co-production with TRT Sinema and was developed during TRT's 12 Punto Script Days and EAVE Producers workshop. Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey and the Bulgarian National Film Center, the film was shot in Afyon in 2022. Post-production work for the film was finalized in Sofia in 2023. The Reeds delves into the captivating story of a young man named Ali, portrayed by the talented Hilmi Ahıska, a resident of a small Anatolian town who earns his living through reed harvesting, against the oppression of local gangs.
