The audience showed immense enthusiasm for "The Reeds," which received an invitation to the prestigious "Centrepiece" section of the 48th Toronto Film Festival and celebrated its world premiere with two exclusive screenings.
 
Director Cemil Ağacıkoğlu, leading actor Hilmi Ahıska, producer Sezgi Üstün San and editor Selda Taşkın attended the screenings. After the screenings, director and the film crew answered questions from the audiences. Canadian Consul General in Toronto, Can Yoldaş, and Cultural Attaché Selçuk Erincik were also among the guests.
 
"The Reeds" is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey and the Bulgarian National Film Center and co-produced by Red Carpet and TRT Cinema.

The Reeds, a riveting crime drama directed by Cemil Ağacıkoğlu and produced by Sezzfilm, has been chosen to make its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival in the Centrepiece section.
 
This year's Toronto Film Festival will take place from September 7th to September 17th. Among the festival's special selections, which attracts over 500,000 film enthusiasts from all around the world, will be the world premiere of "The Reeds” a 2023 production by Sezzfilm, co-produced with Red Carpet from Bulgaria and TRT Sinema;  directed by Cemil Ağacıkoğlu.
 
Previously categorized under the title "Contemporary World Cinema," the section showcasing films from around the world will be renamed as "Centrepiece" starting from 2023. Robyn Citizen, the festival's programming and platform leader, stated about the name change, “Centrepiece is a showcase for acclaimed titles from festivals around the globe, highly anticipated premieres from Canadian and international talents, and the latest work of influential filmmaking luminaries,” The Reeds, which has been invited to be featured in the Centrepiece, will seal its spot in this highly regarded part with its world premiere, establishing its presence on the international stage.
 
"The Reeds" is a co-production with TRT Sinema and was developed during TRT's 12 Punto Script Days and EAVE Producers workshop. Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey and the Bulgarian National Film Center, the film was shot in Afyon in 2022. Post-production work for the film was finalized in Sofia in 2023.

The Reeds delves into the captivating story of a young man named Ali, portrayed by the talented Hilmi Ahıska, a resident of a small Anatolian town who earns his living through reed harvesting, against the oppression of local gangs.

For the World Sales and Festivals: Wide

The 4th edition of the 12 Punto Script Days took place in Istanbul between 12-20 July 2022. The 12 Punto Script days selection comittee awarded the upcoming feature film Apathy by director Alexandros Avranas for the international co-production award. Sezzfilm, as the Turkish co-producer of the film received the award on the closing ceremony.
Apathy is a co-production between France, Greece, Estonia and Sweden. The Project received Eurimages support in September 2022.

We are happy to announce that "The Cage", the 4th feature film from Cemil Ağacıkoğlu, produced by Sezzfilm is among the finalist in the National Competition in 58th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. The selection committee, consisting of Mehmet Açar, Muammer Brav and Sevin Okyay, has evaluated 44 entries and determined 10 finalists of the National Feature-Length Film Competition.

"Producer Sezgi Üstün San was the winner of the “EAVE – TRT Scholarship”, which was given for the first time this year. 52 producers from 37 countries won EAVE scholarships to study at the 2021 EAVE Producers Workshop.
EAVE is one of Europe’s leading producer training programs, created by a unique network of over 2200 producers. EAVE has been constantly reviewing its educational activities in order to strengthen European independent productions in order to successfully compete in European and global markets in recent years and to contribute to the sustainability and competitiveness of producers by reinforcing their creative, managerial and financial skills; is preparing new workshop programs."

2nd edition of the 12 Punto TRT script Days is held between 12 - 18 July 2020 in Istanbul. 

This year, the pre-jury selected 12 feature film projects among the 148 applications. The Reeds, 5th feature film project by director & writer Cemil Ağacıkoğlu was among the finalists. The jury consisting Mike Downey – Director of the European Film Academy,  Georges Goldenstern – Director of Cannes Film Festival Cinéfondation, Fatma Hassan Alremaihi – CEO of Doha Film Institute, Gabor Greiner – Director of Films Boutique, Jovan Marjanovic – Director of Cinelink awarded four projects with the pre-buy of the tv rights and four projects with the co-production with TRT.

Second Feature Film project from Mustafa Nuri, The Kids Are Coming is selected to participate in 15th Sofia Meetings - Project in Bank section. The director and producers will be attending to the festival between 16 - 18 March 2018 for one to one meetings with the industry professionals. 
The Kids Are Coming is a co-production between Turkey and France (Epicentre Films), planned to be shot at the end of 2018.

Cemil Ağacıkoğlu's 3rd feature film, The Field, made it's world premiere on the fourth day of 22. Sarajevo Film Festival. The film screened at the festival as a part of International Competition programme.  The Team, Sezgi Üstün San (Producer), Serkan Ercan (Actor), Cemil Ağacıklıoğlu (Director), Fatma Arzu Agacikoglu, Ilgaz Kocatürk (Actor) attended the screening and Q&A afterwards.
